Resize Ubuntu filesystem to use additional disk space
I resized an Ubuntu 14.04 Linode to a larger plan in order to have more disk space on the root volume. I increased the blocks allocated to the max available in the new plan, but after a reboot the OS doesn't see the additional space (as reported by df -h).
When I have resized Ubuntu Linodes in the past, the additional space shows up automatically, and I created a test Linode today that saw the additional space immediately after the resize.
The only oddity I've noticed about this system is that the filesystem is shown as ext4 in /etc/fstab but in the Dashboard as ext3.
Any thoughts on where to go from here? Thanks!

Usually when resizing a Linode you'll need to resize the Linode's disk separately. If you resize the Linode's disk using our resize tool in the Linode Manager it should take care of everything automatically, or report that it can't resize the disk. If you're seeing an error, then it may be your Linode's disk has options enabled that prevent the Linode Manager from resizing it automatically. In that case, try resizing manually with resize2fs from within Rescue Mode
