Tomcat hosting

Would you/anyone be able to (help) set up a website that uses Tomcat through Apache if I order a linode account? I have couple of domains. One is an email domain, and for the other two I would like to have JSP support. Neither of the sites are heavy-visited (no more than about 200 visitors per day at this point, but I am hoping for an increase).

What I basically am looking for is:

  • Tomcat (5 preferably)

  • Able to easily set up email addresses and subdomains (proper and re-direct ones)

  • Run JSP's through Apache (no :8080 port for jsps)

  • Have PHP support for some subdomains (at least one at this point).

  • I am used to cpanel, but I'm not sure that linode supplies a control panel ?

I am used to shared hosting, so setting up stuff like DNS, apache and email will be new to me. I do have an IT background, but I have never really done any server configuration. I wont have any need to resell space.

I am simply looking to have more control over my domains and development.

First let me say I have no problems with Linode, I've been with them for ages and I'm happy.

For Tomcat and JSP there may be an easier answer.

Have you had a look at http://rimuhosting.com/

I've never used them and have no idea if they are good or bad. They appear to do JSP out of the box.

For Tomcat on a Linode take a look at the following thread:

Then PM this person for a more informed view of the requirements / difficulties. I don't really know much about Tomcat, but when I looked at the install doc's, they looked really hard.

I'm a former rimu customer.

Their service is TERRIBLE.

Just thought I'd warn.

Since it hasn't been mentioned yet, I know there's several linode customers running Tomcat. I know it's possible, but you'll want probably at least a Linode 128 to handle the massive amounts of resources Tomcat uses.
