Can downsizing disk cause data loss?

I've downsized it from 8 GB to 4 GB RAM however I'm not sure that I've cut the data. It was almost full at 48G and after downsizing , after booting I found 0 bytes available disk space.

May be I've lost some data ?

It is not covered this anywhere in the documentation

Secondly I've raised a support ticket but no response since 20 hours

The disk information in the Linode Manager shows how much VPS disk is allocated to virtual disk drives.

To see your virtual disk drive utilization, use the df command at the command line.

xxx@zzzzzz:~$ df -H
Filesystem Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
/dev/root 32G 11G 20G 36% /
devtmpfs 1.1G 0 1.1G 0% /dev
tmpfs 1.1G 0 1.1G 0% /dev/shm
tmpfs 1.1G 111M 932M 11% /run
tmpfs 5.3M 0 5.3M 0% /run/lock
tmpfs 1.1G 0 1.1G 0% /sys/fs/cgroup
tmpfs 209M 0 209M 0% /run/user/1000
xxx@zzzzzz:~$

No, Linode will not silently cut off your disks if you resize the Linode.
