Strange folder appearing in web root folder after sftp via filezilla

Hi I have a couple of odd folders appearing in my public_html folder after initially uploading the website. One is just titled ( in the command line it appears as ?(?. The other is named the same as another folder but again in the command line list files comes up as ?foldername?

Any ideas anyone? I've literally just set this up yesterday and I'm connceting via ssh on both with root access denied.
