Why Does Restored Server Take So Long to Access?

I'm trying out the Linode Backup Service. Twice now I've created a new linode according to the "Getting Started With Linode" instructions (https://www.linode.com/docs/getting-sta … our-linode">https://www.linode.com/docs/getting-started#provisioning-your-linode). However, instead of following the "Deploy an Image" instructions, I've gone to the Backups tab of the server whose last daily backup I want to restore to my new server, clicked the links to restore the backup to the new (diskless) server, and then booted the server. However, I've noticed that it has taken over 15 minutes before I've been able to ping the new server or SSH into it. Why does it take so long to access a newly-restored server? Is there anything I can do to speed up this process? If my server crashes and I need to restore it from a Linode backup, I'll want to get the new server online as quickly as possible.

I think this is normal it will take few minutes to restore from a backup. What is the size of your VPS ?

It's just a 1-GB Linode with very little on it.

The backed up image should be a exactly what your image was, booting up with a newly restored image should yield the same results as if you just rebooted the server with that image in the condition it was in when the snapshot was taken. Do you know if the restoring part is taking a while, or is the restoration going quickly and it's the first boot into being reachable that's taking a while?

The restore takes a normal amount of time to occur. It just seems to take 10 to 15 minutes to ping or be able to SSH into the server after the restore completes.
