System configuration

Hi:

I have a runing linode instance, while it will be useless in the next month, but it will be still charged even I close it.

However if I delete it, I have did a lot of configuration for the instance, I do not want to do that again and again. Also the ip maybe changed if I delete-create new instance.

How do you solve this kind of problem?

Well, you've got two choices. You can either:

1. If your disk takes up less than 2 GB, you can use our imaging service to save your setup:

https://www.linode.com/docs/platform/linode-images

2. If your disk takes or more than 2 GB (or if you just like doing this), you can save the image of your disk to another location, then when you're ready to start another server, move the image back in:

https://www.linode.com/docs/security/ba … -your-data">https://www.linode.com/docs/security/backups/backing-up-your-data

These steps are assuming that you don't want to keep your Linode and see charges. Once you've done either of these steps you can delete the server and spin a new one up later with the image you have on hand.
