Reverse DNS to hostname

I'm trying to get the reverse DNS to point to my hostname.

When I enter the subdomain / hostname at the reverse DNS page it says "No match was found for 'picasso.tomtecho.com'. Reverse DNS must have a matching forward entry that points to one of your IPs" but I have set the hostname in the A / AAAA records picasso to the ip address in the DNS manager.

Does this sound right or what am I missing?

Thanks.

Looks like it worked. Must have been propagating or something.

Should /etc/hostname have just the hostname in it or should it be in the form of hostname.domain.com?
