Setting up an MX record on Linode, how?
I have just registered with this forum. I am new to Linode and just starting getting familiarised with UNIX hosting.
I have successfully transferred over my site from a hosting company to Linode. Now I need to set up some mailing system on my site so that the site is able to send / receive emails from users.
I did not cancel the previous hosting account and they said if I want, I could use their service purely for emails by modifying my DNS MX routing at the domain name registrar to point my mail to their servers.
Could someone explain how this could be done at my Linode.
Kind regards

Add desired records in such zone.
Verify that they work by querying Linode's DNS servers. For example, if your domain is "example.com" and you added a MX record in the zone for "example.com", you can check with this command:
host -t mx example.com ns1.linode.com
- Then, and only then, you can tell your DNS register that your DNS servers will be ns1.linode.com and ns2.linode.com. From that point on (or more accurately, after a while which may be as long as 48 hours), the DNS records that will be valid for your domain will be those defined in Linode's DNS Manager, and only those. This is why the records should be checked carefully before making the "switch".
